Palmetto Falls Water Park at Fort Jackson

With less than 2 weeks of summer left, I decided to surprise Olivia and McIver yesterday with a trip to Palmetto Falls Water Park at Fort Jackson.  They were THRILLED!  We were not allowed to take our own food in, so that made getting out the door even quicker.  We just threw towels and goggles in the pool bag and headed out the door.

We had to go into Fort Jackson to get there.  I was asked for my license, proof of insurance and registration.  The first two were easy, but the registration... not so much.  I couldn't find it ANYwhere.  Poor McIver - he asked if the 'army guy was taking me to jail.'  I assured him that would not happen, but that we might have to come back another day.  Turns out the (somewhat intimidating) 'army guy' just radioed someone else who confirmed that we were driving what we were supposed to be driving.  Then he gave us a big smile, confirmed that we knew how to get to the water park and sent us on our way.

I snapped a quick picture before we got in the lazy river.

We had a bit of a rough patch when we found out that McIver (still) isn't tall enough for the big slides.  There are 2 slides together that you must be 48" to ride.  The guy at the top of the lower slide allowed McIver to go a few times, though.  But, when we tried to go to the very top, the girl would not let him go.  Drama ensued for a few minutes before we noticed this slide which proved to be a good time.
McIver actually asked me to take this picture.
Another trip on the lazy river...
We really had a good time, once we got over the not being able to do the slide issue.  We went down the slides a few times and McIver ended up playing on the playground for a good little while 'with my new best friends."
