It is SO nice to be close enough that friends will drive down to visit just for the day!! Marina and I missed each other when we were in Greenville last month, so she offered to bring Julia, T & Mary Caroline to Columbia to visit for the day yesterday.
Julia & Olivia were SO excited to see each other. They both asked if, now that we're back in SC, they will be able to celebrate their birthdays together. Marina and I have a plan in the works that will BLOW THEIR LITTLE GIRL MINDS!! But, it's a secret so you'll have to wait until September to learn the surprise.
Marina and I visited and caught up on life while the kids all played. Olivia and Julia played dress up, listened to music and talked about Hannah Montana. The boys played 'super spy' and ran around the house. Mary Caroline was perfectly happy punching the button on UnoAttack until all the cards flew out. She also loved playing with Murphy. After a quick lunch at home, we decided to load into Marina's car and head to the Marble Slab for a treat. It rained all morning so it was nice to get out of the house. We were able to snap a quick shot of everyone before they piled in the car. Check out McIver & T doing very serious 'karate poses.' (Mary Caroline's dress, by the way, is the one that Julia wore when she and Olivia had their 2nd birthday party together at the Greenville Zoo. GranGran had already made a dress for Olivia with a giraffe on it, so we asked her to make Julia a matching one. We got out the scrapbook yesterday to show Mary Caroline. She was just sure that it was her in the pictures!)
It turns out that Marina's brother and sister-in-law, who live in Columbia, are going to Greenville today. So, we worked it out so that Julia spent the night with us and T spent the night at his aunt and uncle's house. The girls were overjoyed to have a sleepover, even though Julia didn't have any clothes, etc. At least she had her blanket - I'm not sure Olivia would have been so eager for an unplanned sleepover if she didn't have her Froggy! They slept downstairs in the playroom and giggled loud enough, and long enough, that I finally had to just hang out in the kitchen until they settled down. It was well the way to 11:00 before they went to sleep.
Here they are up close - no smiles from these boys, although they were having a great time together.
Yummy Icecream!
