Last Soccer Game of the Season

I didn't even realize that I should be enjoying my last morning as a soccer mom (for now, at least!). Olivia had had a friend spend the night and Will was rounding so I had a busy morning getting three children up, fed and dressed for soccer. McIver's game was at 9 and Olivia's game was at 10:30 which worked out perfectly for this weekend (every other Saturday we've had to go back for her game at 1:30).

McIver was on FIRE during his game. He scored 2 goals and was so happy with himself. We played a team we knew so he got twice as many cheers as he would have otherwise. The only problem was the he got kind of cocky and decided to start taking his time to make a kick ... a player from the other team finally got tired of waiting and just kicked the ball right out from under him. It really was funny - karma, it comes around!
One last team picture...

Olivia had a great season - she never scored a goal, but had a really fun time. I think being on the soccer team helped her transition to school be a smooth one since most of the girls on the team go to the same school. Only one is in her class so she had more people to play with on the playground who introduced her to even more friends. All the girls played hard on Saturday, and Olivia played the hardest I had seen her play all season. Every time the coach started looking around to make a substitution, Olivia had her hand in the air if she wasn't already on the field.
We celebrated after the game with lunch at Pawley's Front Porch in Five Points. It was quite a crowd, but a great time ... soccer trophies were presented and the meal ended with a soccer cake.
