Isemans Visit the Lake

The Isemans came for an afternoon of playing in the lake last week, too.  We were a little late getting to Bomb Island to see the purple martins with the Harrisons so we made plans to head out earlier with the Isemans.  I knew the kids would be hungry so I made some cheese sticks for the boat ride.  (It also saved us the expense of a trip to the Rusty Anchor!)  Olivia thought the purple martins were 'boring' the previous day so I knew she'd need something to shake things up and make the trip a little more exciting.

Everybody loves fried cheese!

The kids got into the cheese before we even left the dock.

Finally ... lots and lots of purple martins (and maybe some blackbirds, too, according to Tupp).

We dropped the anchor so we could just float around a bit and relax.  The later and darker it got, the more purple martins started heading toward the island.

The kids were getting a little anxious (and bored), so I offered to get in the water with them.  I think they were surprised that I really would.  We had a great time floating around and trying to fight the waves to stay close to the boat.  Sweet little Mary Frances has finally warmed up to me - she was holding on to some part of me for most of the time that we were in the water.

McIver didn't get to go in the water with us because he had already changed out of his bathing suit.  He and Morgan occupied themselves on the ride home playing games on Will's phone.

Great pics of a family vacation. I love boating on a lake and do it whenever I visit my daughter in NY. It looks like a good time was had by all!
